The dogs run at different speeds, according to the distance to be covered.

The dogs are very excited and usually they start quite fast, so be prepared for a rush of adrenaline from the moment of departure.

Sled dogs travel at an average of 25 to 30 km/h on journeys of around 40 km long. On longer trips, the average speed drops to 16 to 22 km/h.

This is a pleasant speed to view the beautiful Mont Tremblant landscape.

Even in bad conditions, however, the sled dogs can still maintain an impressive average speed of 10 km/h

For competition races, the dogs can run really fast. The endurance races of the most famous sledge dogs take place in North America. Among them the Iditarod (Alaska) and the West Yukon (Canada) are the equivalent for the mushers of the World Cup for a footballer.
These races last for between 8 and 10 days for the fastest teams and up to 30 days for the slowest teams. The distances covered are about 1600 km, sometimes more. During the sprint races (short distances over 1 or 2 days) the dogs can attain speeds of around 50 km per hour.
